Maliyadeva College, founded in 1888 by the Buddhist Theosophical Society led by Colonel Henry Steel Olcott, is a renowned government school in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka. As one of the country's oldest institutions, it's known for quality education, offering classes from primary to advanced levels. With about 5000 students, it's a National School under central government oversight. The term "Devans" affectionately denotes its students. The campus features modern facilities and maintains a legacy of academic excellence, nurturing graduates who contribute to society.
Our motto, encapsulated within a Sanskrit phrase, conjures the concept that science stands as the crowning jewel of humanity, illuminating our path towards progress and understanding.

The college crest is one of the identities of Maliyadeva College. It is designed with meaningful symbols. Every student wears a uniform with the badge stitched on their pocket.
The college flag is the most important visual element for the student in the college. The Maliyadeva flag has, through the years, kept up the college spirit during celebrations.
The flag of the Maliyadeva College has is three horizontal lines starts with navy blue, golden yellow and maroon. In the middle yellow line there is the Crest of the college.

The students are divided into four houses according to their admission numbers. The house names are derived from the past kings of Sri Lanka.
The houses compete in games to win the inter-house games.
